From a small workshop located in Braga, Portugal to the international jewelry showcases, discover the successful story of a fine jewelry brand that made its reputation on filigree art.

A family affair. Eleuterio Antunes opened is own workshop in Travassos, in Northern Portugal, in 1925 after learning from his father what filigree was.

Gold filigree is part of the heritage of this region, as traces of pieces from pre-Roman have been found there. Many workshops dedicated to this art can be found in nearby places such as Gondomar, Viana and other parts of northern Portugal.

These ancestral techniques are at the heart of Eleuterio fine jewels making it the core DNA of the brand. To back it up a little in history, filigree consist in the art of the « crochet gold » twisting altogether raw gold into wearable thin wires.

Gold filigree requires the best raw materials and the skillful hands of a craftsmen.

Using a magnifying glass and a pair of tweezers, a craftsman then begins to twist the threads into pairs until he obtains a single, even thinner, thread, which is then recasted.

The art of twisting the finest thread of gold has no secret for the Eleuterio Company and his founder, quickly began to get noticed for the delicacy of his pieces and its creative signature.

Today, the grandchildren of the founder, Rosa and Luis Antunes, continue to carry his name abroad with a desire to expand the family brand worldwide.

Through their work, the brand has evolved and took a contemporary look, which help them to expand into new international markets. The Eleuterio jewelry collection starts to be is present in several European countries, USA and Japan.

Exclusively made by hand in their Portuguese Atelier, all Eleuterio jewels are unique. Their collections are a unique mix of heritage and excellence in filigree.
