It all started as a family affair

Daughter of the renowned diamantaire Andre Messika, Valerie’s world has been immersed in diamonds since her early childhood. When asked about her first memory with diamonds, the designer likes to give as a response that as a child she used to spend hours looking at diamonds instead of playing with toys. It is perhaps this relaxed approach that led Valerie Messika to innovate in a world steeped in tradition in order to treat diamond in a cooler way. With the help of her father making him her business mentor, Valérie Messika launched in 2007 her jewelry brand that has since become a world-renowned luxury brand claiming her “diamond for everyday” creative guideline.

Gaïa Repossi was also brought up in the world of jewelry due to her father who happened to be a renowned Italian jeweler … even though it wasn’t her first plan! Despite her early immersion in the family affair, Gaia always thought that the jewelry world was too conservative.  As a former student in archaeology and anthropology she wanted to concentrate her mind on fine arts. During her master’s degree, Gaïa Repossi started to exchange with her father, offering up ideas on designs about new collections. There, she slowly took part in the family business. Her successful collaboration with her friend Eugénie Niarchos founder of the fine jewelry brand Venyx, finally convinced the heiress to take over the family brand on a creative level and therefore became the artistic director of Repossi in 2007.

That led the two designers to express their strong vision of what is modern jewelry

Each one of the two jewelry heiresses: Gaïa and Valerie, have brought a breath of fresh air turning diamond fine jewelry into everyday accessories. But these two game changers differ from their vision of femininity.

On one end, there is Valerie Messika, considered a specialist in the diamond industry where she set diamonds in its most pure and colored versions from fancy yellow to vivid pink into her creations. Constantly on the lookout for things, Valerie infuses her designs her sense of modernity and playfulness that became her signature. She combines beautiful diamonds to elastic and modern structures that are nothing but classic and glamorous at the same time. Valerie enhances diamonds and women in the same way, offering them to wear it on daily basis with casual clothes whilst feeling utterly feminine.

On the other end, Gaïa Repossi is inhabited by a passion for minimalism and architectural approach that she spreads in her creations. Inspired by ancient civilizations, art and architecture, her sculptural jewels are designed to revealed themselves when worn by their owner and to gracefully match their body line, like a tattoo. Modern and very graphic, Gaïa Repossi is constantly revisiting the treatment of fine stones and metals, giving them a new aesthetic that is highly desirable whether you are millennial or not.
