Initiated by the jewelry designer Nana Fink, the first edition of Jewels Basel took place last March during the Baselworld show where Selim Mouzannar enthusiastically participated into this new jewelry rendez-vous.

Not to long ago, the famous baroque villa Wild’tsches Haus was the Basel address for brands such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Bvlgari who decided to set up their showroom during the fair. It was therefore a strategic choice from the investigator of the Jewels Basel project. Originally from Basel, Nana Fink launched her own jewelry brand in 2011 and quickly found herself confronted with the reality of the market. Above, she was confronted with budgets that were required in order to participate to the major watch and jewelry events such as the Baselworld show. A few months ago, she decided to create Jewels Basel, a human-sized show in which an eco-system of jewelry brands from all over the world could exhibit altogether in order to benefit from both a commercial and an editorial visibility.

As a certified gemologist, avid collector but also a genuine designer with a thousand ideas, Lebanese Selim Mouzannar decided to participate in the first edition of Jewels Basel because Nana Fink managed to gather most of the parameters that he considers essential for a trade show. He, who normally avoids the big industry rendez-vous in favor of small targeted events such as his presence at the Hotel Daniel during the Paris Fashion Weeks or the Couture show in Las Vegas. Jewels Basel has become the ideal place where a carefully selected panel of jewelry brands gravitate altogether far from the hustle and bustle of the Basel fair located a few blocks from the Villa.

For the occasion, Selim Mouzannar unveiled Gemma, a new collection of unique rings whose particularity is that each stone, whether it is a rhodolite, an aquamarine, or a morganite, is an emerald cut and surrounded with colored enamel. Sharing the ground level of the villa, the colorful DNA of Selim Mouzannar vividly contrasts the one of the American Eva Fehren or the French Charlotte de la Rochefoucault, founder of Dauphin, who both mainly work with diamonds in pure, graphic and minimalist lines.

As Nana Fink explains, her most important wish was to offer visibility to jewelry designers who are as different as they are talented. Congratulations to a first edition that has been successfully completed and looks promising for a second round in 2020.
