As one of the most important and longstanding of all British jewellers, Garrard have an inclination for reinventing their rich heritage with a modern twist. But one design stands above all of their creations with its pervasive Britishness and timeless beauty, making the jeweller’s value of the past palpable.
The Tudor Rose collection draws inspiration from the heraldic symbol of Great Britain: The Tudor Rose. This new and bold interpretation of the Tudor Rose has resulted in floral themes that represent Garrard’s close ties to British Heritage. The vibrant coloured gemstones celebrate the wide array of colours blossoming in a traditional British rose garden. Crafted in 18 carat white gold and a myriad of precious gemstones, the new pieces include headbands, ear climbers and classy cocktail rings all handcrafted with intricate detailing and superior finesse.
Naturally, an element so regal needs a fitting setting and along with white gold and diamonds, so Garrard have opted for the serenity and ethereal charm of pearls. Tight strings of pearls in parallel lines form the bracelet, while looping curves of the radiant material are used for the body of the necklace. In some instances, these pearls are replaced with polished ruby beads for a spray of dramatic red. There are only a few elements more glamorous than the pearls, used to add warmth and luster to the Tudor Rose collection and these are large, fiery rubies.
All pieces in the collection use different, inventive interpretations of the motif of the rose itself, incorporating it both as a centrepiece and detail, pendant and earring. The singular shape of the rose leaves intersperse the pieces, forming clasps while the high jewelry necklace includes an ornate spray of pearls and polished ruby beads which can also be detached and worn separately. Fluid, dazzlingly beautiful and a timeless combination of heritage and modernity, the Tudor Rose collection is a representation of Garrard’s artisan creativity and the limitless possibilities of their craft.
