No need to explain who or what Fabergé is anymore. Their eternal themes of love, regal elegance and flamboyant glamour have shaped the legendary jewelry designs, original and distinctive style, earning the brand a place in the history books of the jewelry tradition… until modernity comes along the way leaving behind the so-called “classic and traditional.”
Russian jewelry house Fabergé has a history as rich and exuberant such as their splendid jewel-encrusted Imperial Eggs. Although we don’t need to present who or what Fabergé is anymore nor what has he achieved to be a jewelry reference today, it is important to recall that the brand was founded in 1842 by Russian jeweler Gustav Fabergé. A time where the artisan rose to prominence thanks to his fashioning resplendent jewelry and decorative eggs custom-made for European aristocrats and Russian tsars.
Today, the brand continues to create stylish, opulent pieces for clients who wish to receive the royal treatment. Undergoing recent structural changes, the brand has shifted in terms of positioning, strategy and developements. Their most recent jewelry creations stem across three distinctive collections: Emotion, Devotion and the Imperial collection re-interpreting their heritage is the modern-est possible way.
The year of 2013 marked the beggining of the new era of the Fabergé name. A special line of rings imagined for memorable occasions. Named “Devotion,” the collection dazzles with a variety of bright rubies, diamonds, sapphires and other precious stones. The central concept at the heart of the collection is the inherent majesty of colored gemstones without a specific design in particular… which makes the jewelry line full of movement with pieces of all different styles, including restrained solitaires as well as rings with intricate patterns on the shank or a skirt.
Set in white gold or platinum with diamonds, the monochrome palette of the rings is offset by bright gemstones such as vivid green Zambian emeralds, fiery rubies or deep-blue sapphires.
The Imperial Collection breathes royalty keeping the DNA of the brand with a slight modern twist since the eggs were for long the vision of Tatiana Fabergé – developed in the respect for traditions inspired by her great-grandfather and his rich heritage.
On the other end, the Treasure Collection interprets the modern yet natural evolution of the collection. If the original design of the egg has been kept, the execution has been given a drastic modern revamp. The result: bewitching egg pendants adorned with bold rubies, amethysts, emeralds, sapphires, and diamonds sometimes set in a invisible setting or snow-setting of astounding beauty and technicality. The Treasure collection is inspired by the Mosaic Imperial Easter Egg of 1914 and comprises a line of mosaic pendants that illustrate the art of color with three variations. Mozambican rubies, sapphires, diamonds and tsavorites are used generously to commemorate the genius of Carl Febergé and preserve his legacy. The precious gemstones are invisibly-set, which is a trademark technique of the famous House pioneered in the 20th century. This perfectly calibrates the single-faceted stones in a ribbon-like narrow row, allowing the gold setting to remain invisible and resulting in a flawless mosaic pattern finish.
Some variations of the eggs can be shaped in Spiral charms and set with lacquer and diamonds. Others, considered more traditional- display ornate guilloché engravings.
The last collection but not the least is the very example of the modern revival of the brand. The Emotion collection is infused with intense color and a multitude of precious stones as it explores the intellectual and artistic richness of Fabergé’s world pushing the design into organic yet living shapes.
The bold and daring Emotion rings push the boundaries of design and craftsmanship and illustrate the Fauvist view of color as an emotional force and an expression of pure emotion offering an array of color combinations and sizes for every woman to find her own. The painterly abstract compositions of random pavé work in a myriad of colour combining precious and fine gemstones, feature over 300 unique gems. From vivid emeralds to pink diamonds, deep blue or purple sapphires, turquoise Paraiba tourmaline, and multi-colored gemstones, are combined to create rings that are a major statement for discerning clientele and women with taste!
