If you are one of those who think that pearls count as the most classic materials, then take a look at Anissa Kermiche debut collection, you might become addicted.
The Parisian-born designer originally studied engineering and computer science. Once she graduated, she started working for three years in a firm before quitting her promising job as a consultant.
Led by her passion for creation since she was a child, Anissa Kermiche followed jewelry studies in London at the prestigious Central St Martins school. She worked in Hatton Garden, a legendary place in London near Chancery Lane to buy jewelry made with life-long craftsmen before she decided to launch her eponymous brand in 2016.
It started with one notable design – the Paniers Dorés earrings, inspired by a dinner table strewn with leftover fortune cookies – to catch the attention of the fashion sphere. Provocative but very chic, the 27 years-old designer doesn’t forget to bring a touch of humour in her design. Shortly after the launch, she managed to shock the jewelry mindset. She names her daring designs with a sense of poetry : the pendant Précieux Pubis portrays long crossed legs with a pussy made of a triangular black onyx ; the earring French for Goodnight is nothing more than a middle finger with nail painted with black enamel ; and Rubies Boobies speaks for itself.
Made of gold plated, her pieces are strong statement that make everyone smile and notice her creations. She updates the way classic pearl are worn with a combinaison of diamonds in a way that speaks to modern women. In less than a year, Anissa Kermiche drove her brand to success and caught the eye of buyers at leading retailers, such as Net-à-Porter or Harvey Nichols.
From her London-based studio, Anissa has sourced the finest stones and used both her technical and creative skills to consistently challenge convention. She uses a 3D printing to avoid making expensive samples and to focus on shapes that stay true to the very last millimeter.
Hidden behind her generous smile and unbeatable energy, perhaps the secret of her designs include a rebellious temper with a touch of humor and beautiful shapes that make a woman feel new and unique.
