Carolina Bucci is a true master of Gold while Audemars Piguet master the art of watchmaking. Together they create a masterpiece called the Frosted Royal Oak. Benefiting from her jewelry legacy going on for more than four generations, she perpetrates the Florentine finish in a new and modern way.
For generations, the Bucci family has been mastering the art of gold, creating jewelry for the high Milanese society of the 1970s from the Florentine workshop. In recent years, Carolina Bucci has been perpetrating her jewelry legacy in re-establishing the family brand with new and modern collections of fine jewelry.
Their specialty: gold and the Florentine finish. What does it actually mean? The Florentine finish is a technique achieved by beating 18kt gold with a diamond-tipped tool which leaves permanent faceted dents in the surface. As these indentations catch the light, they give the jewelry a sparkle more often associated with precious stones… as if dust of diamonds were covering the metal of the piece. A stunning effect for jewelry… but when it comes to watches – it reaches a whole new level… and destiny made it happen.
Carolina Bucci has been wearing for many years a Royal Oak signed by Audemars Piguet, a brand she adores. Out of a almost random-encounter the Italian designer met with the Swiss manufacture. Known to break the rules after mastering them, not only the Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet was seduced by her personnality but their avant-garde and daring state of mind allowed them to develop a brilliant idea !
The Royal Oak Frosted Gold is a limited edition of 150 pieces in white gold and 150 pieces in rose gold where the watch case and bracelet are treated with Florentine finish, Carolina Bucci’s signature.
Not only the launch of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Frosted Gold towards the end of 2016 marks the 40th anniversary of the Lady Royal Oak but it also celebrates Carolina’s 40th birthday!
The collaboration between the two is no less surprising than daring. It’s the first time a watch brand collaborates with a fine jewelry brand. But when you think about it, both Carolina Bucci and Audemars Piguet embody their brand as : bold, modern, family-owned, avant-garde and mastering traditional savoir-faire.
Why shouldn’t be a success ?
