The Italian brand recently revealed its Octo Finissimo Automatic, the finest extra-slim automatic watch on the market to date. Enough to make other extra-slim specialists green with envy, such as Piaget, which has been vying for position with its Altiplano collection for quite some time now.
Bvlgari’s new watchmaking innovation represents yet another record, following on from that of the tourbillon and the minute repeater, honoured in 2014 and 2016. 2017, as such, heralds the arrival of the Octo Finissimo Automatic timepiece, the finest extra-slim automatic watch on the market to date. And, for good reason, it is only 5.15 mm thick and its movement totals a mere 2.23 mm. The watch itself sports a 44 mm diameter. Enough to revolutionize watchmaking codes! The extra-slim is a complication in its own right… not to say the least. The design of each component had to be reconsidered to achieve this result, which has nothing whatsoever to do with just miniaturizing an existing model. The movement components, even though some were already ultra-thin, as well as those of the case and dial, had to be redesigned to obtain this wafer-slimness.
This innovational BVL 138 calibre automatic movement, featuring an off-centered small seconds counter, offers a 60-hour power reserve. Bvlgari offers this watchmaking beauty with a titanium case and dial which make the piece incredibly light and, has made a point of adding a black PVD coating to the hands and indexes to ensure the time can be read perfectly. An ever-so sleek, absolutely excellent timepiece of flabbergasting beauty!
