The use of the deep blue, is the new thing to adorn the dial of a feminine timepiece. First, Girard-Perregaux’s Cat’s Eye is the iconic feminine timepiece of the brand famous of the oval shape of the case and fine detail they have developed 15 years ago. On the other end, Bell & Ross’s iconic classic square dial has been available in many options for years but the feminine version was their missing piece until the BRS Diamond Eagle.
The Eye of Jewelry spotted two timepieces that have – in their shape, history or style- been iconic to their brand’s DNA to the difference that this year, Bell&Ross and Girard-Perregaux have used the same color but not the same material to attract the eye of the averted woman.
GP CAT’S EYE AVENTURINE
The Girard-Perregaux Manufacture presented a newer version of the seductive iconic Cat’s Eye collection. And that is, the aventurine – a deep blue stone from the quartz family filled with shimmering bright inclusions as if it was sprayed with glitter, poetically marking out each hour of day and night as a precious moment. The bespoke beauty of this “Day & Night” model combines the delicate curves of the Cat’s Eye case with a sophisticated manufactured movement.
The complication is presented in a feminine way with a shiny sun and a pale moon appearing on the 22 carat pink gold disc that completes a rotation every 24 hours. The complication is easy to use as it is synchronized with the hours and minutes hands and doesn’t require setting. Its emblematic oval case – the signature feature of this collection – is made of pink gold and the bezel sparkles with 62 brilliant-cut diamonds. The lugs are curved delicately inwards and harmoniously extend the proportions of the case, providing the wrist with an ideal fit for maximum comfort. A carefully chiseled crown into the form of a flower accentuates even further the model’s ultra-feminine elegance. Trickling time is measured out by delicate leaf-shaped hands for both the hours and minutes and by a baton-type hand for the seconds.
BRS DIAMOND EAGLE
A feminine watch with a masculine DNA brand – Bell & Ross succeeded in launching the BRS Diamond Eagle keeping their classic square dial and tweaking it in a feminine way. With Carmen Jorda as the new ambassador of the brand, she embodies the Bell & Ross to perfection.
The BRS Diamond Eagle was launched earlier this year at Basel recognizable by its deep blue dial adorned with 7 diamonds. Set according to the Aquilla Constellation named for Jupiter’s eagle, the 7 diamonds represent the group of stars explorers used to rely on during their journeys far from the continents. The BRS remains loyal to the DNA of the brand keeping the square dial of 39mm diameter and paving the satin-polished steel case with 66 diamonds on the bezel – weighting almost one carat. The midnight blue dial subtly featuing a sunray pattern highlight the femininity of the timepiece.
Worn by Carmen Jorda as the new Bell & Ross ambassador of the brand, the BRS Diamond Eagle could never carry more strenght and femininity out of the Renault F1 Pilot’s wrist. She is 27 years old and one of the few who made a name for herself in such an industry dominated by men. Carmen Jorda drives like no other women and demonstrated – according to the Bell & Ross team – a tremendous precision and excellente technique in driving the Monte-Carlo circuit. Drawing a direct parallel with watchmaking attributes, she naturally became a glamorous element of the brand and embarked in the Bell & Ross journey as the B&R woman.
